AND NOW YOU KNOW

Life gets busy. You don't have time to check for every little thing. Especially since the political landscape gets confusing. What does this mean? What does that mean? How did we get here? How do we go there? This page will help answer some of those questions.

THE U.S. SENATE IN 2026 - 33 SEATS UP FOR RE-ELECTION

There has been a lot of attention on the 2026 midterms, mainly on the U.S. House of Representatives races. Understandably so, especially with the Texas legislature, on the unofficial orders of Donald Trump, having already gerrymandered their state's U.S. House districts. Other states will likely follow with redistricting in response.

What we are not hearing much about are the U.S. Senate races. There are 33 seats up for re-election.

WHY THIS MATTERS

For many reasons, but mainly because Democrats only need to flip 4 seats to have control. While the breakdown is currently 53-47 in favor of Republicans, picking up 3 seats would mean 50-50, and the vice president breaks the tie if votes are split down the middle. We need to get that extra seat.

Also, Republicans are looking to gerrymander because they are clearly desperate. There have been several state legislature seats flipping in favor of Democrats throughout the country, and largely due to Republican support of the Big, Ugly Bill and the Republican response to the release of the Epstein files, Republican support from conservatives is dwindling.

The bottom line is that they cannot gerrymander U.S. Senate seats.

So let's make sure we do not stray too far away from keeping an eye on the U.S. Senate races. Ultimately, the goal is to take both the U.S. House AND Senate, which would effectively be bad for Trump and this administration. And needing just four seats in each to flip, it is well within reach.

BUT TRUMP WANTS TO GET RID OF ELECTIONS?

Yeah, and I wanted to marry Vanessa Williams when I was a teenager. So what? Burglars want to break into homes. Do you leave your doors and windows unlocked?

Remember...DO NOT COMPLY IN ADVANCE. Just because Trump wants to do something does not mean we should just roll over and let him do it. Why bother with gerrymandering if they will try to get rid of elections? Because either they know it will not be as easy as that, or they will not get the support to make that happen. Trump's support is dropping and even Republican lawmakers are starting to speak up against him, unsure of their own fates. The answer is that we fight until there is no fight left. Things are starting to turn, and we cannot lose focus now. These Epstein files have opened a LOT of eyes, and things are nowhere near as much of a sure thing as they once thought. Hang in there.

SO WHAT IS GERRYMANDERING?

Gerrymandering is a simple concept. However, you first have to know where this comes from. It starts with redistricting.

Redistricting simply means that states are responsible for re-establishing where the boundaries are for voting districts. This applies to both the U.S. House of Representatives and the state legislatures.

The purpose of redistricting is to account for changes in the population. Per the constitution, this is to be done every ten years and in line with the census (this is also done every tenth year; ex., 1990, 2000, 2010, 2020, etc.)

States can decide to redistrict at other times, but this must be done, at a minimum, every ten years.

Gerrymandering is when states intentionally manipulate the boundaries to benefit one political party over another. This can be accomplished by knowing where the voters of each political party live.

IS THIS LEGAL? Unfortunately, the short answer is yes. Because gerrymandering is done under the guise of the legal process of redistricting, there is not something yet in place to explicitly prevent this from happening.

Because minorities typically vote Democrat, Republicans gerrymander by simply re-establishing Democrat-dominant areas to exclude these populations, or to spread them throughout multiple districts to lessen our voting impact.
